Projects: “Historic” Garage
The project required Zoning Variances from the Zoning Hearing Board, and is located in the local Historic Architecture District, which required Historic Architecture Review Board review.
This property occurs along a public alley on which every neighbor has a detached garage. The homeowner had a storage shed which was destroyed by a storm, and decided to construct a garage that fit within the fabric of the neighborhood and respected their historic house.
The 1.5 car garage is built to look as if it had a historic hay loft with a built in stair and the potential for an artist studio above. The garage has a dormer that reflects the iconic dormer and a front porch to provide shelter and relate to the house.
